Friday's ISCF MMA World Classic Tournament
Welcome Dinner

This year the ISCF does not have a Main Event sponsor for the 2nd Annual ISCF World Classic. Because of this, the ISCF has been responsible to finance the entire event on their own which has been a cost of about $30,000. Because of the cost the ISCF had been trying to secure a sponsor to cover the $20 a plate, Friday night Welcome Dinner for the fighters, trainers and officials. However, just this last week, a sponsor ISCF had thought was going to step up, contacted the ISCF to inform them that they will not be able to do it.

This of course put the ISCF in a sticky situation with various choices to make.

  1. Cancel the dinner and just have the fighters draw in the hotel ballroom.
  2. Charge each fighter, trainer and official the $20 fee for their dinner.
  3. Hope to land a late sponsor to cover the entire dinner which will come to about $3,000 - $3,500.00

"Going backwards for the fighters is something I personally don't want to do." Said ISCF President Steve Fossum. "Due to our busy schedule with the ISCF and our other companies such as IKF Kickboxing), we didn't have as much time as we had hoped to, to seek sponsors for the tournament. However, this is not the fighters fault. We would like to keep the same quality as the first ISCF MMA World Classic and if anything, offer everyone more, but never less."

Fossum put his money where his mouth is earlier today as he plunked down $3,000 in cash to Crowne Plaza Five Seasons Hotel Sales Manager, Matthew Kreutner towards the Welcome Dinner to take place on Friday night. The dinner will be free to

Others wishing to attend the dinner can purchase dinner tickets at the same cost of $20.00 each, however, due to the need to pre-plan the dinner, a very limited number (40) of additional dinner tickets will be available for purchase.

The Friday night Welcome dinner will begin at 6:15 PM. After dinner the ISCF will have a special awards session followed by the Fighters Draw, where those fighters who made it to the event and made weight will draw for their tournament seeding. The dinner will include:

PRECIOUS CARGO...

We don't have to remind any of the OPEN Division Challengers at this next weekends 2nd Annual ISCF MMA World Classic what each of these awards are worth. As someone stated last year, "It's all about the BELT Baby!" Today all these 7 Championship Belts along with lots of other awards, merchandise (ISCF & IBL) and tournament promotional equipment and supplies are being packed in preparation for the 1819.8 mile Road Trip ISCF President Steve Fossum (L) and ISCF Photographer Glenn Berg (R) will embark on about 10:PM tonight. If all goes as planned they will arrive in Cedar Rapids Iowa sometime Tuesday morning and set up the satellite office for the ISCF until after the tournament.

As many did last year, some are probably wondering this year, "Why would they be driving all that way... Can't they afford a plane ticket?" Well, for those of you who have been around the IKF since the 2000 IKF USA Nationals event will remember why they now make the sacrifice to drive to this event as well as all the IKF Tournaments, EVERY YEAR.

At the 2000 IKF Tournament, the events official shipping sponsor, UPS (United Parcel Service) was anything but... Official. They "LOST" ALL of the the IKF National Championship Belts valued at around $8,000.00. They didn't get them back until about 3 weeks after the event, when UPS finally found them. Oh there's a lot more to this story, but that tells enough of the story. "There was nothing worse that year than seeing all those Champions walk away from the ring with a "BORROWED" IKF USA National Champions Belt knowing they had to give it back after a quick picture." says IKF President Steve Fossum. "All those Champions, young and old that fought their heart out that year and were sent home with just a promise that We'll mail your belt to you..." Sure, they all got their belts about 3 weeks later, but they didn't get to come home with them after the event.

"What a crock of an explanation I thought... " continued Fossum "Here these amateurs traveled all this way, fought hard and won the National Title and now had nothing to carry home, let alone raise high above their head when they met those waiting for them at the airport or at the front door. "

Fossum continued, "NEVER AGAIN will I not be able to see the joy on a Champions face as they carry their Champions Belt proudly over their shoulder as they leave for home Monday morning."

This event will change your life in so many ways. The trainers who give their time, effort and knowledge to their fighters with no financial compensation in return. Their sacrifices they make is rewarded when their fighters proudly enter the ring of battle to "Walk The Walk!"

For those who will be in attendance at this years ISCF MMA World Classic Tournament, make sure you make the most of the event. Win or lose, stop and look around at who surrounds you. The greatest Amateur MMA Fighters and their trainers and officials the World has to offer. This will, as always be a Journey where we all find ourselves again. A Journey where we all gather together to see what our sport is all about. A house of our Peers.

When were among our peers for these days, it's as if nothing else around the world matters other than what's happening inside the U.S. Cellular Center in Cedar Rapids Iowa on May 2nd, 3rd and 4th. There may not be 10,000 spectators in the stands, but those watching are our peers, and they are the only "Critics" we care to have. Those who know what it is like to train hard and "Walk The Walk!" These are the people who will be there this weekend.

Leading up to this Tournament we have told quite a few people about it, as many of you have. Their response? "What's in Cedar Rapids Iowa???" And our response once again, as it was last year has been very simple...

"The BEST AMATEUR MMA FIGHTERS IN THE WORLD!
"Bring It ON!"

Final Notes Before We Leave To The
"2nd ANNUAL"
2008 ISCF
MMA World Classic

2007 Vs 2008

Last year we had 103 Amateur MMA Fighters sign-up for the first annual 2007 ISCF MMA World Classic. This year we have had 118 register. Over time leading up to last years event, that 103 number dropped to 76 on weigh-in day and after weigh-ins we had 58 fighter show up and make weight To Walk The Walk! As of today, we have only lost 17 fighter as compared to those 45 we lost last year. In defense of last years loss, many admitted after the event that they didn't believe it was going to be as good as it was. Doubting the number of awards, competition, organization etc. etc, many thought it best to pass on the first year of this great event. However, many of them signed up for the tournament this year vowing they will indeed show up to "Walk the Walk!"

Here are the records to break for this year set at the 2007 Tournament.

  • There were a total of 46 bouts fought.

  • The Championship bout for BOTH the Featherweight Divisions (Open & Novice) ended in the exact same round at the same exact same time, 2:47 of round 1.

MORE TOURNAMENT NEWS

  • VIDEO Passes
    • Since all the Top ISCF Officials will be in attendance, WE WILL NOT BE FILMING THE BOUTS. If you want to bring in a video camera, the fee for a video pass is $40 and can be purchased on Friday, at Weigh-ins and Registrations or during the event at the ISCF Merchandise Booth. Please do not film from the Fighters PIT area or standing up in front of others at ringside. Those caught video taping without a pass will be escorted from the building and will not be allowed to return for the entire tournament.

  • REGISTERED TRAINERS
    • We are leaving for Iowa tonight, so any cornermen not already registered on this page HERE as of the posting of this article, will be required to pay the full cornerman's registration fee of $25 if you have your own photo (2" x 2") or $35 if we have to take your photo. Please do not tell us you mailed in your photo and form and we should have it when we see you at registrations. AGAIN, whatever you see on the Registered Cornerman's page as of this posting (This includes everything from confirmed trainers to fighter photos needed to fees due), is all we have received here as of this moment.. We will NOT be here to pick up mail all of Tournament week.

  • PHOTOGRAPHY
    • This year like at all of our IKF Tournaments we will have Official ISCF Photographer Mr. Glenn Berg at the tournament to take portrait shots. He will be taking photos throughout the weekend. He will be set-up at his photo booth in the Venue during all 3 sessions. Even if you do not win, "WE" as the ISCF would like to have your photo. You do not have to be a Champion to get your photo taken. We urge EVERY fighter and Trainer, even officials to go see Glenn to get your photo taken for our records. Glenn will stick around well after the event is over to make sure he has captured everyone there.

  • HOTEL ROOM NUMBER CHECK
    • As we have made clear all along ALL FIGHTERS located more than 50 miles away from the hotel are required to stay in the Host Hotel. At your first check-in point at Friday's registration, each fighter will be required to give to the first ISCF Official, their room number, show their key and confirmation receipt of the Host hotel. If you are not staying in the Host Hotel, you will be asked to book your room (If any left) and return to registrations with your room number. There is a VERY Good reason for this.
      • At some of our past IKF Tournaments we had Fighters get injured in their bout and we needed to contact their parents who were not in the venue at the time of their bouts. Also at some past tournaments we had some fighters we needed to locate due to bout changes but we could not find them in the event room or in the hotel because they were at another hotel sleeping. Due to these issues causing a lot of problems, we do not want to face such issues again. This is why this is a MANDATORY RULE now for ALL FIGHTERS!

  • FIGHT VENUE - "ARENA!
    • The venue is the U.S. Cellular Center and when you see it, it will be motivating for everyone. When the fighters take the stage next weekend they will truly feel like a championship fighter's who has arrived at "The SHOW!" The mighty Cage for this weekend is NEW and only used 1 time (this past weekend in Illinois). It is larger than last years and is a 24' circle with an outside catwalk. We have made the decision to only use one cage so that everyone can watch each bout as they happen. This was mainly a decision helped out by the various Pro Event scouts that have confirmed will be in attendance. When we say there is not a bad seat in the house, we truly mean it! And there is PLENTY of room for EVERYONE! No cramped venue here, but than again, we always make sure you all have room to move... From ringside to the top of the balcony, any spectator will be able to watch the action with ease. We have plenty of warm-up area for trainers and fighters that will be separated from the Fight arena with a floor to ceiling drape. This warm-up area will have several large wrestling mats for warm-up. Although the host hotel is attached, also located in the arena are showers for all our event participants and a seating area for those who wish to eat while at the venue. As noted, don't forget that the arena is simply an elevator ride from your room so there is no need to travel by car or walk to and from your room to the fight arena.

  • FIGHTER SAFETY!
    • Like at our IKF Tournaments, our main concern for all the fighters is "Fighter Safety". We have an excellent staff of referees that include;
      • Cam McHargue, Griffin Georgia USA
      • Robert Hinds, Plainfield Illinois USA
      • Jon Munz, Hot Springs Arkansas USA
      • Dave Atchison, Orleans, Indiana, USA
      • Ron Cook, Centralia Missouri USA
      • Steve Thomasson, Oklahoma USA
      • And several others...
    • Adding to our fighter safety, the ISCF Tournament remains the "ONLY" MMA Tournament in the World that assures all fighters are covered with fighter medical insurance. As always, our insurance will be provided by the only Fight and Venue insurance endorsed by the ISCF and the IKF, F. L. Dean & Associates - www.fdean.com. To assure your safety at Tournaments and events around the world, ask your promoter if he is insured. If it's ISCF Sanctioned, IT IS! If not, you may be at risk for your medical needs if injured. To read more about ISCF and IKF Insurance with F. L. Dean & Associates, Click HERE!

  • ISCF & IBL MERCHANDISE
    • In the house this year will be the Official ISCF & IBL (International Battle League) Merchandise booth. Drop by and say hello to our girls in the booth and grab some gear! Available at the booth will be ISCF Tournament T-Shirts, ISCF Hats, Beanies, Sweatshirts, Stickers, Polo Shirts, and even ISCF Baby Clothes for that up and coming ISCF Champion! Several IBL items will also be available. And finally, don't forget to get your Official 2008 ISCF World Classic Tournament Program. The folks at "The Hive" put together a card that featured J.R. Christenberry from Lafayette, Indiana and Donald Harper from Washington, Illinois for the "ISCF Amateur Northern Regional Bantamweight Title" Other highlights included matches between Dorian Mosack from Peoria, Illinois and Adam Brady from Lafayette, Indiana, Ron Wilson from Sparland, Illinois and C. 1. Amateur Bantamweight MMA
Ken Kirby, 1-0-0, Heyworth, IL, Self trained, Vs John McClaughlin 0-1-0, Granite City, IL., CMMA Fighting Systems, Steve Knogl
Round 1: The fight started with McLaughlin throwing a left hook/ right hook combination at Kirby's head that Kirby ducked and twisted under allowing McLaughlin to get behind and wrap his arms around Kirby's waist. Kirby attempted a standing roll but McLaughlin rolled with him and maintained Kirby's back on the ground. McLaughlin, now on Kirby's back with his hooks in, tries a rear choke but Kirby is able to hold onto McLaughlin's hand to prevent the choke. McLaughlin works most of the round trying to get his arm around Kirby's neck for the choke while Kirby maintained control of the arm to stop the choke. The edge in the round went to McLaughlin on all scorecards.
Round 2: McLaughlin starts with high punches which Kirby again ducks under but this time is able to take McLaughlin down. They exchange positions several times with a series of twists, bridges and rolls. Kirby eventually finds himself on top of McLaughlin in a full mount. McLaughlin rolls to his hands and knees and gives Kirby his back. Kirby attempts a rear naked choke as McLaughlin tries to buck him off. The bucking only allowed Kirby to sink the choke in deeper and force Referee Chris Rudesill to step in and stop the fight at 2:01 of the round.
    Winner by Tap Out-Ken Kirby.

  2. Amateur Welterweight MMA
David Kay 2-1-0, Canton, IL., Silverbacks, Self Trained, Vs Dan Smith 2-1-0, Pontiac, IL., Pontiac MMA, Chuck Painter

Kay promptly throws on a rear naked choke and at :55 of the round Referee Chris Rudesill steps in and stops the fight.
    Winner by Tap Out-David Kay.

  3. Amateur Featherweight MMA

Round 1: Mahoe begins with a left jab that Dunnavant ducks under and attempts a double leg takedown. Mahoe avoids the takedown and both fighters remain on their feet. Mahoe again throws a punch that Dunnavant avoids and then, this time, successfully shoots for and achieves a takedown on Mahoe. Dunnavant on top, throwing punches to Mahoe's body, forces Mahoe to reach up and grab Dunnavant around the neck to neutralize the attack. After a period of inactivity, Referee Chris Rudesill stops and stands the fighters in the middle of the cage and re-starts them. Dunnavant comes forward and ties Mahoe up while throwing three knees to his body. Mahoe tries to spin Dunnavant around to throw him down but slips and ends up on his hands and knees with Dunnavant on his back applying his hooks and trying for a rear naked choke as the bell rings to end the round. All judges gave the edge to Dunnavant in the round.
Round 2: Mahoe starts with a pair of leg kicks this time. Dunnavant responds by shooting in for the takedown and ends up on top with a half mount throwing punches to Mahoe's body. Dunnavant swing his leg over into a full mount and begins to "ground and pound" onto the face of Mahoe. Mahoe puts his arms up and tries to buck Dunnavant off of his chest. Unable to buck him off, Mahoe turns to his stomach and gives Dunnavant his back. Dunnavant continued to punch at the head and face of Mahoe who covered up with his hands and arms as the bell rang to end the round. The round went to Dunnavant on all cards.
Round 3: Mahoe, throws a left hook that Dunnavant again avoids and manages a double leg takedown. Mahoe immediately gives Dunnavant his back while trying to hold Dunnavant's hands. Dunnavant pounded the head and face to the point that Mahoe was not successfully protecting himself and forced Referee Chris Rudesill to stop the fight at 1:49 of the round.
    Winner by TKO-Adame Dunnavant.
Later in the evening, Adam Dunnavant was also awarded the trophy for being chosen "The Amateur Fighter of the Night" by the officials at ringside.

  4. Amateur Lightweight MMA
Miguel Sanchez 0-1-0, Peoria, Il., Geronimo Fight Club, Gary Higdon, Vs Ryan Mays 2-2-0, Pontiac, IL., Pontiac MMA, Chuck Painter
Round 1: Sanchez throws a pair of leg kicks followed by a round kick to the head of Mays that is blocked. Mays throws a flying knee that Sanchez avoids. He grabs Mays and tries to throw him down but slips in the process and ends up with Mays on top of him. Mays punches at Sanchez while Sanchez tries to neutralize the attack by hugging the arms and body of Mays. Mays sets too high on Sanchez' body and allows Sanchez to bridge out and reverse positions on Mays. Sanchez begins to throw punches at Mays but extends an arm that Mays grabs and tries to lock in a straight arm bar. Sanchez stands and pulls his arm free while allowing Mays back to his feet. Mays lands a left hook to Sanchez' head which forces Sanchez to tie him up and they roll around against the cage. Mays steps back and throws an upper cut, Sanchez throws a knee that Mays catches. He drives forward and pushes Sanchez down to the ground. Sanchez applies a guillotine choke on Mays as they go down but the bell rang to end the round before any damage was done. During the "ground and pound" Sanchez is able to bridge and buck Mays higher onto his body which allowed Sanchez to turn and stand out the back. Sanchez attacked Mays while he was still on the ground. Mays, now with "legs around bottom", works for a triangle choke that Sanchez steps away from allowing Mays to stand as the bell rings to end the round. All judges scored the round to Mays.
Round 3: Sanchez throws a right leg kick followed by a left body shot. Mays wades through, throws punches to Sanchez' face and body and then takes Sanchez down. Sanchez works his legs up trying a triangle choke. He gets his legs too high which allows Mays to swing them aside and achieve a side mount with Sanchez' arms tied up. Sanchez squirms around and is able to get himself in the "legs around bottom" position. They wrestle around for most of the round with Mays on top and earning him the edge in the round on all cards.
Winner by Unanimous Decision, Ryan Mays, 28-30, 28-29 and 28-29.

    Winner by TKO-Mike Porzelius.

  7. Amateur Welterweight MMA
This fight was scheduled to put Beau Whitaker of Hamilton, IL., in the cage against Jammie Hill of Atlanta, IL.
During the pre-fight physicals, it was determined that Jammie Hill's blood pressure was too high for him to fight and was therefore not allowed to fight due to Dr. Greg Tudor's orders. This will be entered as a "NO FIGHT". Neither man should be admonished, fined or reprimanded since both fighters did show up to fight.

  8. Amateur Light Heavyweight MMA
Josh Slightom 1-0-0, Carlinville, IL., Team K-9 Blood, Jason Upton, Vs Mark Lohman 0-1-0, Granite City, IL., CMMA Fighting Systems, Steve Knogl.

Lohman was on the verge of tapping out near the end of the round but was saved by the bell. As Slightom got off of him and went to his corner, Lohman was slow getting up. Winner by Verbal Submission, Josh Slightom.

Richardson uses the cage to hold himself up until Robinson is able to turn him and get on his back against the cage. Robinson throws hammerfists with his right hand while Richardson holds his left. Round 3: Robinson continues where he left off in the last round. He takes Richardson down and holds him down. He achieves a full mount and starts punching Richardson. RESULTS FROM
"PURE FORCE VII - Glory"
April 5th, 2008 - Tinley Park, Illinois, USA

On Saturday, April 5th, 2008, the guys at HCX International put together a powerful fight card at the Holiday Inn Convention Center in Tinley Park, Illinois. They brought amateur adult men and women in from Illinois, Ohio, Wisconsin and Michigan, many of whom were making their debuts in the ring, to energize fight fans with a Muay Thai Rules and Mixed Martial Arts event. They started the card with a fine Muay Thai Rules exhibition between Anthony Fearn and Tyler Smock, both of Illinois. These guys demonstrated to the crowd what could be expected when the fighting started later. Here Are The Results of the Night…

Submitted by Michael Storm-IKF/ISCF Representative

  1. Women's Featherweight Muay Thai
Michelle Perry, 1-0-0, Team Blast, Madison, WI, Mike Vaughn, vs. Alex Paulsen, 0-1-0, Jho Boun Martial Arts, Mokena, IL Jho Moraga
Round 1: Perry begins with jabs, hooks and kicks to Paulsen's head and body that backs her up. Paulsen throws leg kicks and front kicks to Perry's body in an attempt to stall the attack. Perry, the shorter of the two fighters, appears determined to be the aggressor as she charges forward. Perry throws a front kick to Paulsen's body but Paulsen answers with a left/right combination to Perry's head and forces Perry to tie her up. In the clinch, Perry proceeds to throw knees to the body of Paulsen. Paulsen appeared uncomfortable in the clinch so she pushed Perry away. Perry steps right up and throws a strong right hook to Paulsen's head that staggered her and forced Referee Al Wichgers to step in and issue a standing 8 count. As the fight resumed, Perry charges forward and tries to deliver more damage to the head and body of Paulsen right before the round ended. Perry took a strong edge in the round due to the 8 count.
Round 2: Perry begins attacking at the opening of the round. Paulsen threw kicks and punches at Perry which had little effect on her. Perry continued moving in and attacking, she front kicked Paulsen in the stomach and put her down but Paulsen got right back up. It was called a flash knockdown but it got a rise out of the crowd. Perry, relentless, keeps moving forward. Paulsen valiantly fought back was not able to stop Perry. Perry's attack was strong, it forced Referee Al Wichgers to step in and stop the match at 1:12 of the round.
    Winner by TKO-Michelle Perry.

Sean Barnett, 0-1-0, Peak Submission Shootbox, St. Mary's, OH, Jody Poff, vs. Tyler Parr, 1-0-0, Bob Long's Silverbacks, Galesburg, IL, Ashley Sanchez

Barnett moves in and ties Parr up. Parr pushes him away with his left hand and hits him with his right. Again, Barnett ties Parr up and pulls Parr's head down as he throws knees. Referee Al Wichgers breaks the fighters and warns Barnett for pulling down on Parr's head. Parr throws a round kick and this time hits Barnett in the head. Barnett answers with a leg kick and then ties Parr up attempting to knee him to the body. Parr pushes him off and lands a right hook to Barnett's head. The edge in the round went to Parr on all judges' cards.
Round 2: Barnett starts with a kick to Parr's stomach which is answered by a stronger kick from Parr to Barnett's stomach. They exchange leg kicks. Parr then throws a leg kick followed by a right hook to the head of Barnett. Parr throws another round kick towards Barnett's face that just misses but he follows it up with a right hook to Barnett's face. Barnett lands a right hook to Parr's head and several unanswered leg kicks that back Parr up. It was a closer round than the first with two judges giving the edge to Parr and one to Barnett.
Round 3: Barnett starts with a leg kick which is answered by a Parr left/right combination to Barnett's head. Barnett throws a left kick to the body followed by a punch and then he ties Parr up. Barnett begins taking the lead on the exchanges by getting off first and beating Parr to the punch. Barnett the obvious aggressor in the round and ha a much better round. As the bell ends the fight, Parr threw a round kick to the head of Barnett who threw a round kick to Parr's body. The body shot knocked an off-balance Parr down in a flash knockdown. Both fighters circle the ring as they look for an opening. Fritz shoots for a takedown and misses. Both fighters move to their feet and separate allowing Referee Al Wichgers to step in and stop time. He calls Dr. Grace Akiens in to look at a cut under the eye of Jimmy Fritz that he received during the earlier exchanges. As the fight resumes, Daniels comes in and knees Strick once again in the head. The referee stopped time and deducted one point from Daniels for the illegal blow. Strick charged forward as the fight continued and wildly threw punches at the head of Daniels as the bell rang to end the round and then continued punching after the bell forcing the referee to stop him an admonish him for the action. All judges gave the edge in the round to Daniels but due to the point deduction, it ended up an even round.
Round 2: Daniels begins the round with a clinch and a left knee to Strick's body. They break, Daniels moves in calmly and throws powerful, straight punches to the head and body of Strick, forcing Strick back and between the ropes. Strick throws a spinning backfist which is answered by a spinning backfist from Daniels as the bell rings to end the round. All judges score the round for Daniels.
Round 3: Strick throws a right as Daniels throws a front kick to Strick's body. Strick, looking very tired, throws wild punches at Daniels. Daniels moves forward and begins throwing several unanswered left/right combinations to the head of Strick that back him into the corner. As the fight continues, Skjold throws a round kick to the head of Olson that was blocked. Olson moves forward and watches for another chance to land power shots on Skjold. Skjold throws punches but many were blocked by Olson who then throws an overhand right and a left hook to Skjold's face that forces Skjold to grab on and tie Olson up. As the round ends, the fighters exchange knees in the corner. The edge in the round went to Olson due to the 8 count.
Round 2: Olson starts with a pair of front kicks that back Skjold up. Skjold ties Olson up and they try to exchange knees. With Bordonado's arms and legs wrapped around him, Negri stands and then falls on Bordonado to shake him loose. He begins throwing punches to Bordonado's body that cause Bordonado to tie him up again. Negri stands and allows Bordonado to stand which allows Negri to shoot in and pick Bordonado up and drop him on his back. He works his way around to Bordonado's side and grabs an arm and sits out into a match ending arm bar just as the bell rings to end the round allowing Bordonado to survive the round and continue the fight. The edge in the round went to Negri on all cards.
Round 3: Bordonado starts with a left hook that Negri ducks under and shoots for a double leg takedown but only succeeds in backing Bordonado into the corner where Bordonado is able to throw and land a couple of knees to Negri's body. Negri keeps pushing Bordonado up against the ropes until he can get his arms around the waist and pick him up and put him down. Negri is able to get a full mount but gets too high and allows Bordonado to twist out and reverse positions on Negri who twists out himself and gains the top again. Negri spins around and attempts a guillotine choke on Bordonado as the bell rings to end the fight. All judges scored a really good fight 30-27.
Winner by Unanimous Decision, Joe Negri.

  11. Men's Heavyweight MMA

Round 1: Adams starts with a left jab to the face of Galloway as Galloway shoots in for a take down. Adams sprawls to avoid the takedown and attempts a guillotine choke but as he throws his legs around Galloway's body to apply the pressure, Galloway pulls his head out and gains a top mount. Adams, with legs around bottom, works to hold and control Galloway's arms to prevent punches. Galloway working to improve his position, slips and falls off of Adams allowing Adams to twist and reverse positions on Galloway. Now with Adams in a full mount on top of Galloway, he begins to rain punches down on Galloway. Galloway turns to his stomach with Adams high on his back allowing Galloway to slide out the back and stand. With both fighters up, Galloway comes in with his head down and tries a takedown but Adams avoids it. Adams throws a right leg round kick to Galloway's head followed by a left spinning backfist and a right hook to the head that puts Galloway down onto the canvas causing a stoppage of the fight at 2:41 of the round. Referee Al Wichgers reports that the final blow was an illegal punch to the back of Galloway's head and therefore disqualifies Adams in the fight.

EAST COAST CHAMPIONS MMA, Camp Lejeune, NC, By JJ Coronel: It was a great night for fights at Marine Corps Installation Camp Lejeune, North Carolina.
